Growing up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa studying in an academically competitive environment instilled a professional conviction that I carry into my college career. At Drake University, my conviction and drive are rewarded with leadership opportunities in Delta Gamma Fraternity and internship opportunities in the Des Moines community.
At Drake, I am pursuing a degree in Public Relations and Graphic Design. Through a challenging curriculum, I have created a well-rounded portfolio and earned a spot on the dean’s list for the past two semesters. This success empowers me to go forward into my junior year with confidence and the will to continue that success.
On campus, I am involved with the Student Activities Board. On their band’s committee, I assisted in the planning of the annual Drake Relays concert. We were able to bring two bands to the stage which was the first time in the history of the event. AJR and Marc E. Bassy were the two acts and they were received incredibly well by the student audience.
Through Delta Gamma Fraternity I was elected director of philanthropy. In this position, I organize and execute philanthropy events to raise awareness and funds for our foundation, Service for Sight. Our most recent event, Anchor Slam, was a success and raised over $500.
The first semester of my sophomore year I earned an internship at the Des Moines Community Playhouse as their marketing intern. Through this experience, I sharpened my writing skills writing press releases, playbills, and monthly newsletters.
Currently, I am employed with The Avenues of Ingersoll and Grand. I work as their marketing and special events assistant. Our biggest upcoming project is Ingersoll Live, a one-day outdoor festival with live music, food, and fun.
I am always looking for new opportunities to apply my skills and I am excited to see what the future brings.
